Although this appeared in the Wall Street Journal a few days ago, I thought you might want to read an insightful piece written by Bill McGurn on abortion. Here is an excerpt: Are babies better than abortions?
Even though I am in Rome, somebody sent me the attached article from former NYS Assemblymember Michael Benjamin, who joined us at the press conference on January 6 sponsored by the Chiaroscuro Foundation .
As some of you may recall, our Holy Father, Pope Benedict XVI, has asked me to undertake an apostolic visitation of the Irish seminaries. I am leaving on Friday, January 14 to begin a week-long visitation of the Irish College in Rome, and, after a few days of other business in Rome, I will be off to Ireland to visit the seminaries there.
The news that Pope John Paul II, beloved the world over and especially here in New York, will be declared “Blessed” by Pope Benedict XVI on Sunday, May 1 is an occasion of great joy and grace. Soon-to-be-Blessed Pope John Paul visited New York three times – twice as Pope, and once when he was the Cardinal-Archbishop of Krakow, and so in many ways we consider him to have been an honorary citizen of what he famously referred to as “The Capital of the World.” His visits to Saint Patrick’s Cathedral, his celebration of the Mass in Yankee Stadium and Central Park, his visit to Saint Charles Borromeo Church in Harlem and to Saint Joseph Seminary in Yonkers are still fresh and vivid in our minds.
On Sunday I was privileged to be in Yonkers for the proclamation of the 4th Annual Respect Life Week. Here are my remarks: Your Honor, Mayor Amicone County Executive Astorino Bishop Walsh, Rabbi Vinas, my brother priests and Pastor Hassell Mother Genevieve, Dr. Copolla, Mr. Felicissimo and Advocates for Life.
Today I participated in a conference hosted by the Chiaroscuro Foundation. Here are my remarks from the press conference: I sure appreciate the courtesy of being invited, and am honored to be in such distinguished company for a noble cause about which we are all very passionate.
