On today's show, I was joined by Bishop Gustavo of the Archdiocese of San Antonio. As the funerals for those killed in last week's shooting in Uvalde begin, we pray for them. In the midst of horror, the Catholic Church has been a sanctuary for many
Today we celebrate the Feast of the Visitation of Mary, when Mary visits her cousin, Elizabeth. This is only a prelude, however, to the greatest visitation of all - the visitation at Christmas. This is when God's Son visits His people.
A special welcome this morning to the members of our United States armed forces. In the morning's homily, I want to pose four questions to you when thinking about where we are in the Church's year - what, how, with whom, and why?
On this week's show, I had Bishop-elect Erik Pohlmeier of the Diocese of St. Augustine on to talk about his new position. He was a seminarian during my time as rector of Pontifical North American College in Rome.
Persecution is always part of the growth of the Church. We have the presence of Jesus, the example of the Apostles and Our Lady Help of Christians, whose feast we celebrate today, to comfort us
Hospitality is a biblical virtue. We see it in the Acts of the Apostles today. It's beautiful when we welcome people into our home, this includes when we welcome immigrants into our nation
In the Gospel this morning, Jesus prepares His Apostles for when He will leave them once again. He reassures them with the promise of three things: the coming of the Holy Spirit, the presence of the community of the Church, and His return at the end of time
Today I celebrated the Synodal Unity Mass of Thanksgiving. I sure appreciate the fact that today we still have the same qualities in the Church as in the Acts of the Apostles.
We don't want to ignore the Pascal candle in the sanctuary. It will only be with us until Pentecost. It's a great reminder of Christ, the Light of the World. Listen to my homily from this morning's Mass here:
On today's show, I congratulated Father Dave Dwyer on his promotion to First Councilor for the entire Paulist congregation. I also talked about last Sunday's Synodal Thanksgiving Mass. The synod is the process of following Jesus in and with His Church in a collaborative way.
On today's show, Msgr. Vaccari and Bishop Bonnici and I talked about our recent trip to Eastern Europe. In these times of crisis, I was struck by the strength of people to move forward with their lives.
Here's my homily from this morning's Mass. This past Sunday was Good Shepherd Sunday. Jesus tells us a good shepherd will lay down his life to protect his sheep. We have the feast day of a very good shepherd today - Saint Damien the Leper.
In yesterday's reading, Jesus calls Himself the Good Shepherd. This morning, He is also called the Gate. Jesus is the entrance, the way we become part of God's family. Let's not forget that Jesus is also a lamb - he's the Lamb of God.
Moms, we love you very much. We need you. We thank you. We thank you, especially for being agents of Jesus, our Good Shephard. Happy Good Shephard Sunday. Happy Mother’s Day.
